I have a bit of a collection of Pulp Fiction novels, with two lesbian ones. This is the first one I’ve read. So far, Lonnie is a bit of a drunk who swore off men after a few bad experiences and needs alcohol to stop “the love-itch”. After ending up in a ditch in the rain, she get picked up by Vee, a wealthy lawyer with an athletic manly body….
thanks for posting this! i’ve been collecting lesbian pulp fiction for a couple of years and have a few (Spring Fire, Rendezvous in Lesbos, Young and Innocent, The Scorpion, and We Walk Alone Through Lesbos’ Lonely Groves—-what a title). Rads and i wrote a paper on 1940s-60s lesbian pulp culture back in college, i’m always excited to be able to read bits of them and see the art (god i love the art) online.
if anybody’s interested in more of the history, i highly recommend Lillian Faderman’s Odd Girls and Twilight Lovers.
Have you read “Gay Scene” by Joan Ellis? That’s the pulp I’m reading next. The tagline is “Every time a man had her it was rape, but with other women it was love.”
